The origin of these rowing boat competitions can be traced back to the rivalry established between fishermen determined to be first in arriving to the fishing ground or ports in order to sell their fresh merchandise at a better price. The values of sacrifice, effort and cooperation withstanding through time, are now the foundation which distinguish this form of sport.
